From the clubhouse
At St Pierre on August 23, Team LUKE edged the Irish Rumble/1-2-3 Best Ball with a 68, just ahead of Team ASH on 69 and Team STUART on 72. It was a tight little team scrap at the top, with the leaderboard staying nicely bunched and Team LUKE doing just enough to finish the job. In Stableford, Ash Phillips topped the pile with 34 points, followed by Ryan Higton on 32. Luke Higton finished third on 29, while Andy Trott and Aiden Mitchell were next on 28. Down the board, there was a bit less sparkle for the rest of the field, with Stuart Procter on 22 and Rhys Higton and Jamie Hill bringing up the rear on 21 — a scoreline that suggests the course was not handing out favours. The individual honours had a few bright spots. Ash Phillips claimed best gross round with an 80, though that triple-bogey 8 on the par-5 fourth probably didn’t make the highlight reel. Andy Trott managed the best single hole with a birdie 2 at the par-3 eighth and also strung together five straight par-or-better holes from 8 through 12, which is the sort of run that makes the rest of the card look like it was written in crayon. Aiden Mitchell picked up the most birdies or better with two. Callum Hill earned closest to the pin at the 11th, finishing 12 feet 8 inches away — close enough to keep everyone honest, but not quite close enough to make the putt feel automatic.
